Yes, there are several land borders open for international visitors between Uzbekistan and Tajikistan. The most popular border crossings include:
- the Panjakent border crossing between Samarkand, Uzbekistan and the Fann Mountains in Tajikistan. We use this border crossing on our Silk Road and Pamir Highway Tour (15 days) that begins in Samarkand and ends in Osh.
- The Oybek border crossing between Tashkent, Uzbekistan and Khujand, Tajikistan.
- The Konibodom – Beshariq international border crossing connects the Kokand, Uzbekistan and towns of Khujand, Tajikistan.
Unless you are on one of our tours, the easiest way to cross the border is to catch a shared taxi, bus or private transport to the border, go through passport control on each side, and then cross on foot to the other side to catch local transport to the nearest town or city. Be sure you have the proper visas for each country.
